Postmortem - Logan Westerbeck

Hey yall my name is Logan Westerbeck and I was one of the developers for this project.

I didn't actually have any issues on the Kanban board so I didn't have any estimation on the time I was meant to spend on the project but In the end I worked around 30 hours on the project mostly trying to fix bugs with the slapping and dialogue mechanics.

Here are some of the blueprints I got to work on-

Slap - https://blueprintue.com/blueprint/4gjtl25z/

Item Pickup - https://blueprintue.com/blueprint/fp1q0vi6/

Car Spawner - https://blueprintue.com/blueprint/qmnib1_5/

The most difficult part of this project was definitely having to go back and redo things a bunch. With the way the slap blueprint was set up it meant every time we changed the customer I would have to redo a part of it to make sure it would work. I learned pretty late into the project about blueprint interfaces which would have made the whole system ten times easier so in the future interfaces are definitely something I will utilize a lot more often. My biggest takeaway from this project is definitely to plan your blueprints in advance. Spending the time to think about you want everything to interact before you start doing anything will make sure your work flows a lot nicer. I think as a team when it came to the different acting parts in reference to blueprints there wasn't a lot of communication on how we were implementing different systems which caused problems between blueprints (i.e. the slap for example). So moving forward instead of having tunnel vision on one blueprint I want to try better to think of how it will interact with other blueprints in the level.

The part I'm most proud of in this project is the slap itself funny enough, the people who played the game seemed to have a really great time just being able to run around and slap box each other and I think the sound effects from the other people working on the project made it that much better.
